Our ethos

At The Soup Peddler, we have pride in serving healthy food, prepared daily with fresh ingredients. We also care deeply about the health of our planet and sustainability. Our soup cups, straws, and cutlery are 100% compostable and we donate bags of leftover soup to Keep Austin Fed. We are constantly examining our operations to see how we can do even more to cut down on food waste.

Food waste

According to the USDA, up to 40% of the food supply in the U.S. is never eaten. Most of that food fills our landfills, where it emits methane and contributes to climate change.

Can croutons help save the world?

One way for us to immediately cut down on food waste is to use the bread we have leftover from our sandwich production to make delicious croutons!

We make more than 1000 sandwiches a day with loaves of artisan, locally made bread. By serving house-made croutons, we will reduce food waste by using all of that bread (the loaf ends), and we will also avoid the waste generated by baguettes that get stale before we can serve them.

Tell us what you think!

We know that you love our baguette slices, but we think you’ll love our croutons, too. We’d love to know what you think about them. We look forward to hearing from you!
